Red Flags Checklist

If you see any of these, run:

  • "Guaranteed" returns or "risk-free" investment
  • Anonymous team or fake LinkedIn profiles
  • Pressure to invest NOW or miss out (FOMO)
  • No verifiable product, just promises
  • Locked tokens — you can buy but can't sell
  • Celebrity endorsements that seem too good to be true
  • Whitepaper is copied or makes no technical sense
  • Community is all bots / paid shills
🔒

Wallet Security Basics

Your keys, your crypto. Don't let anyone take them.

  • NEVER share your seed phrase — no legit service will ask for it
  • Use a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) for significant holdings
  • Enable 2FA on every exchange account
  • Bookmark exchange URLs — never click links from emails or DMs
  • Revoke token approvals regularly (revoke.cash)
  • Use a separate browser for crypto — no extensions
🤔

"Too Good To Be True" Guide

The golden rule: if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

  • No investment guarantees 10%+ monthly returns
  • "Double your crypto" = always a scam, always
  • Free NFT mints that ask you to connect your wallet may drain it
  • DMs from "project admins" offering help = phishing
  • Airdrop claims requiring you to "verify" your wallet = scam
  • If you didn't enter a giveaway, you didn't win one
🔎

How to Verify a Project

Do your own research (DYOR) before investing anything.

  • Check the team — real names, real LinkedIn, real history
  • Read the smart contract — is it verified on Etherscan?
  • Check liquidity — is it locked? For how long?
  • Look for audits from reputable firms (CertiK, Trail of Bits)
  • Search "[project name] scam" before investing
  • Check Token Sniffer, RugDoc, or similar tools
📱

Phone & Email Scam Defense

Scammers are getting smarter. Stay ahead of them.

  • Your bank will NEVER ask for your password over the phone
  • Don't trust caller ID — it can be spoofed
  • Never give remote access to your computer
  • Check sender email addresses carefully (paypa1.com ≠ paypal.com)
  • When in doubt, hang up and call the official number directly
  • Report scam calls to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov
💪

If You've Been Scammed

It's not your fault. Here's what to do next.

  • Document everything — screenshots, transactions, addresses
  • Report to IC3 (FBI), FTC, and your local authorities
  • Contact your bank/exchange immediately to freeze accounts
  • Report the scam address on Chainabuse.com
  • Warn others — submit it here on scam.stream
  • Don't pay "recovery services" — most are scams too
